Website of the Project: Fontane archive - digitale Chronicle

In the course of the project “Theodor-Fontane-Chronicle und -Bibliography Digital”, data about Fontante's work and life, compiled both in the five volumes of the “Theodor Fontante Chronik and the three volumes ofTheodor Fontane Bibliographie, will be made freely available on the platform of the Theodor-Fontane-Archive on a longterm basis, and it will be included into already exisiting digital services.

The Fontane Chronicle Digital

The Theodor Fontane Chronicle, published in 2010 by Roland Berbrig as a five volume print edition by De Gruyter, records available information about Fontane's work and life story systematically, structures the data into eight single categories (Residence, daily events, work, lectures, prints, publications about Fontane, letters of Fontane, letters to Fontane) and represents them chronologically. The aim of the project is to republish and represent this chronicle online on the basis of the print edition, which - at the beginning of the project - contained low structured BITS/XML data. The Theodor-Fontane-Archive receivesd an access to a CMS by the Trier Center for Digital Humanities (including FuD as virtual science platform and system for editorial works as well as a Elasticsearch Engine). To make the data available, they have to be analyzed, remodeled systematically and parsed into the CMS. Before that, the CMS will be implemented with suitable data models, that is the development of the data masks and indices for the storage and editorial of the data. As soon as the digital infrastructures is developed and the data is integrated, a web based frontend with differenciating search options will be developed.

The Fontane Bibliographie Online

The “Theodor Fontane Bibliography by Wolfgang Rasch contains all primary and secondary literature by and about Theodor Fontane. A web catalog about these volumes has already been available since 2019 on the web page of the Theodor Fontane Archive. The data may be highly structured, but the catalog is still based on an outdated software. Therefore, it will be included in the FuD. It is our aim to connect the bibliography with other data of the Theodor-Fontane-Archive and manage them centralized.
