Georg Büchner is one of the most important German writers of the early 19th century. With its international charisma and impact to this day, his oeuvre is one of the most outstanding achievements in German literature. The Marburger Büchner Edition (MBA) comprises 10 volumes (in 18 sub-volumes), which were published in print from 2000 to 2013. With its extensive commentary and documentation sections, the MBA has set new international standards in editing and presentation of a poetic work. The aim of the MBA digital project funded by the DFG is to develop the Marburg Büchner Edition as a networked digital edition and as a central, dynamically developing repository of the Büchner research.

The Georg Büchner Portal, which was set up jointly by the Marburg Research Center and the TCDH and will be integrated into the existig MBA digital, provides information on the author's life and work and was activated in June 2014. The platform-independent digital form of the text data and the content labeling (XML) enables the complete digital edition to be made available on the Internet, which can be updated at any time, and provides long-term prospects for the expansion of the Büchner portal.

Nicolas Schenk as a former member of the TCDH staff developed the MBA digital from the technical side, draws the texts systematically in XML according to the guidelines of the TEI, prepares them by the additional meta-linguistic annotation for diverse and cross-domain research and analysis. As a web designer, Julia Hennemann conceived a graphical user interface that enables diverse user interactions.

TUSTEP is used for the semi-automatic XML labeling of the data.
